COFFEE IN CONISTON

Another short video showing the beauty of the Lake District, I went across to Coniston Water to camp on the shoreline. Third largest lake by volume in England after Windermere and Ullswater, the lake is set in the stunning Coniston valley. Coniston Water is a lake of great history home to a vital source of fish for the Furness Monks in the 13th and 14th centuries, as well as the destination for water speed records. Remembered for the place Sir Donald Campbell unfortunately crashed and died in 1939, with such a rich history and beautiful scenery it was a place I was excited to visit.

I arrived late one evening after work, I cooked some simple camping food (beans on toast) and headed for bed knowing I would be up early in the morning to capture the sunrise and try my hand at fishing for Arctic char. As the morning broke I woke around 6 o’clock to setup my camera and fishing rod, with sleep in my eyes I began the short walk to the Lake shore where I setup. I began shooting and capturing the misty autumnal morning, seeing as I didn’t catch anything fishing I decided to focus more on my shooting.

I have been shooting on a Blackmagic 4k Cinema camera for a while now and have managed to get used to the certain settings that enhance the performance of the camera. Whenever I shoot on a digital camera I try to stick to a 180 degree shutter and around 200 iso for outdoor, landscape shots this means I get a lovely filmic look to my digital camera. In addition to all this I was shooting on a sigma 10-20mm lens which works fantastically with my cropped sensor. I fell in love with this Sigma 10-20mm when I was shooting landscape photography because it allowed me to capture epic panoramas ensuring the whole image is sharp corner to corner.

In this film you can see the beauty of the nature and you can see how the weather in the Lake District is ever changing with the mist rising so quickly, allowing me to get my drone out. I loved shooting here as you could come up with shot using frames made by the trees. every time I shooting the outdoors my appreciation grows, seeing nature in so many different lights allows me to create a different film style every time. As I develop my style and grow in a technical way I also manage to grow compositionally keeping the viewer engaged even during still frames.

To conclude, I am going to keep on growing my filming by camping and exploring new areas ensuring as I discover new places I will also discover new frames and new techniques for keeping engagement. I also aim to generate more engagement with my work clients and try to grow my freelance work by exposing my videography more frequently.
